Our parents and grandparents are owed respect. They deserve the care that they gave you. As our population ages, the care needs of that population develop. Many are forced to deal with the prospect of seeking a long term care facility or “nursing home” to care for their aging family members’ needs. When that choice has to be made, you should feel confident that your loved one’s care is a priority to the nursing home. Tragically, this often does not occur.
Pressure ulcers or “bed sores” often develop. Falls occur. Blood sugar levels or diabetes is ignored. Sometimes your loved one is simply ignored; left to sit and stare at the walls. Illinois has enacted the “Nursing Home Care Act” to protect the rights of those residing in nursing homes or long term care facilities. This law has a myriad of provisions to ensure that a nursing home makes care a priority. Enforcement of this law in civil court is a hammer that you have to tell a negligent facility that it is accountable. You must obtain a lawyer that understands this law and who knows how to enforce it. Jack Davis has this knowledge and has represented victims of nursing home negligence throughout Illinois.
